inside] out Art Exhibition is part of inside] out Arts, a program of the Compassionate Touch Network DBA Breaking the Silence / New Mexico. The annual exhibition gives those who are living with mental illness a venue for sharing their art in a professional gallery.

 

inside] out is now in its 7th year and it has grown considerably in both scope and quality. The project originated in 2012 with the vision of Santa Fe artist Michele Relkin Altenberg, whose son struggled with addiction and mental illness. It has grown to include many professional artists and volunteers who offer mentoring and art classes at residential and drop-in centers in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

 

New Mexicans from around the state create the artwork, with most living here in the Santa Fe area. Inside] out engages with artists from Santa Fe Life Link Clubhouse; an inside] out group that works out of Meow Wolf; Albuquerque's  ArtStreet; and individual studio artists.
